mountain biking in Sedona?

Each day in Sedona can feature a variety of challenging and exhilarating biking adventures. The beautiful red rock formations of Sedona, Arizona offer biking enthusiasts a multitude of biking trails, from easy to difficult, and all with spectacular vistas. Make sure you have your camera you are going to want to take hundreds of photo for Instagram as this is one of the most instagrammable place in the world

Sedona, Arizona offers mountain biking enthusiasts a range of beginner to advanced trails featuring spectacular red rock views and tough terrain.  Nowhere else can you find trails that offer Sedona’s unique blend of scenic vistas, slick rock, technical climbs and challenging switchbacks.

Mountain biking beginners can play it safe on Bell Rock Pathway. This is a great starting place to link up with other, more challenging trails. This easy, wide pathway is 3.5 miles one-way and offers up classic Sedona views of Cathedral Rock, Courthouse Butte and Bell Rock.  Another great beginner to an intermediate trail is Big Park Loop, a 3-mile forest loop with dry creek crossings, semi-technical sections, small drops and step-ups. There is not much elevation change on this trail -596 ft. So it makes for a nice, rolling ride.

Off of the Bell Rock Pathway, intermediate bikers can pick up the Templeton/Baldwin loop, which is a 10 mile singletrack with spectacular Sedona views. This trail starts off with a fast, wooded downhill dirt track. After intersecting with the HT Trail, the trail heads to the base of Cathedral Rock, where it turns to slick rock and a more technical ride.  About .5 miles after crossing Cathedral Rock trail, a steep descent with some tough switchbacks leads down to the creek. The 2.2 mile Baldwin Trail begins when you hit an open field with a fence. trail forks recommend heading counter-clockwise on this trail, as it takes you up a moderate climb, around the rocks and ends in a speedy descent back down to the creek, where you can pick up the Templeton Trail to head back to your starting point. Total elevation changes are 1,312 ft.

Llama Mountain Trail is 3-mile singletrack with elevation changes of 696 ft. with more stunning scenery. This challenging trail gives bikers a little bit of everything, including slick rock, wash-outs, big drops and a slick rock bowl at the base of Lee Mountain.  Follow the downhill through the trees and along a natural rock bench.  This trail has a number of intersections that take you on alternate routes, so it’s a good idea to map out your route before heading out.  Overall, this trail features great technical spots and is a highly recommended trail for intermediate and expert bikers. You know this is the one I fancy the most.

At the end of a hard day its time to relax with a stroll over to the historic Tlaquepaque shopping village for dinner.

My Recommended Ways of Toning Up After Weight Loss

As you know I enjoy keeping fit as much as I can and try to maintain a healthy weight. If you want to lose weight, you can find that once you reach your goal, you're still not happy with your body. Sometimes large amounts of weight loss, or even a little, can leave you feeling like you're not as toned as you want to be.  I lost 7 and a half stone when I was younger and I know your struggle well. If you wish to lose weight but you're scared of being left with wobbly bits, or you already have them, I have some great tips to solve the problem. Check out my advice for toning up during and after weight loss.
Lose Weight at a Steady Rate
Prevention is often much better than cure. So my top tip for avoiding loose skin when you're losing weight is to go slowly. If you have many pounds you want to drop, you might be in a hurry. Some people say that you should start off losing weight quickly if you have a lot to get rid of. But if you go too fast, you won't give your skin enough time to tighten up. Try to keep a steady pace so that you're losing weight consistently but not too much at once. There are other things you can do to keep your skin toned too, such as staying out of the sun.
Toning Exercises
You need to exercise to lose weight, so don't forget to think about toning up too. Some exercises will be better for toning your muscles and skin than they are for dropping the pounds. If you combine different workouts you can make sure you achieve both your goals. Focus on different parts of your body, from your abs to your arms and legs. You can do plenty of toning exercises at home, and you don't need any equipment for a lot of them. If you want to go more hardcore, look for a fitness class that will really push you.

Consider Surgery
If you've lost all the weight you want to lose but you're still unhappy, some people think about having surgery. It's a big decision to make, but often people decide it's the best way of tightening up. For example, you could have a mastopexy, which is a breast lift to fix sagging boobs. Or you could think about a tummy tuck, which will get rid of excess skin around your stomach. Before you have surgery, you'll have to ask yourself a lot of big questions to make sure it's what you really want to do. Make sure you choose the right surgeon too so that you'll be happy with the results. I know I personally have considered a breast lift and If I wasn't so needle phobic I would already of had this done.
Skin Firming Products
Another option is to use different beauty products that might help you tone your skin. For example, a collagen cream will help to replenish the collagen in your skin, which helps to keep it firm. Mineral or salt scrubs can also be a solution to sagging skin, possibly by increasing the blood flow. You can find creams designed to tighten your skin too.

So that's some of my tips and alternatives
What's your secret?

Biking for a beginner or restarter

If you've ever ridden a bike before, even as a kid, getting started again is easy. They say once you learn, you never forget right. It's like riding a bike. Sorry for the pun. This section deals with getting you back on a bike and cruising your community in safety and comfort.

Better Biking Than Ever
The explosion in popularity of road biking in the last decade has meant new products and new technology that have improved biking enormously. For example,

New "puncture proof" tires reduce the risk of a puncture on the road to an absolute minimum. The emergence of "comfort bikes" and recumbent bicycles with full backrests and plush seats has totally taken the pain out of riding for older bodies. And there's so much more. Don't get me started on new seat technology. No more sore butts.

On the other hand, there's more traffic and it's going faster. And, in the city area, drivers aren't expecting to see a lot of cyclists. We have to take more precautions and be more aware of what's going on around us. Don't let that put you off.

Whatever your reasons for biking, there are a few basics you can't avoid. Like finding the right bike for you. Like knowing how to keep the bike on the road. Like learning how to ride safely. Be seen be safe and all that And there are some ideas and equipment you'll find helpful in getting the most out of your rides. I hope this section will help you get on the saddle and why not get the whole family own the road.

Staying Safe
family bikers generally take safety more seriously than road bikers, The brighter you are the better you are seen right?  Perhaps carrying a load of groceries, pulling a trailer or hauling your kids tends to make you feel more vulnerable on the road. Many riders use one or two flashing bright lights (even in the daytime).  Another hint is to avoid rush hour for your shopping trips - bikes are harder for cars to see when traffic is congested and drivers are stressed out.

Locking Your Bike
One of the problems you'll face as a cyclist is a lack of secure facilities for your bike at the stores you visit. Few stores have bike racks; frequently you'll need to find a tree or pillar to lock your bike to. Fortunately, there are relatively few areas where you can expect vandalism, so theft and damage problems are really minimal.

Mostly you'll have to protect yourself against a grab and go thieves, and this can be done by securing your frame. Many cyclists also run a cable through one or both wheels as well. Some riders also detach computers, lights, saddles and other valuable accessories and carry these into the store in their bags. Always take your valuables with you.

FinallyFind Article, safety is always the main factor that you have to consider no matter how busy or rushing you are. Have some time to consider the things mentioned in this post and you will enjoy biking activity without having to worry at all.

What is HIIT?

Of all the exercises in the world, none will improve your fitness as dramatically and lose your fat as quickly as HIIT(High-Intensity Interval Training). It's tough to do but incredibly effective

There is a type of routine called High-Intensity Interval Training. Individuals who are trying to lose fat use this method most often. It has a number of distinct goals and differences which make it unique.

The major difference is the amount of time you will spend doing this routine, which should take no longer than twenty minutes, not including warm-ups and warm downs. This may appear to be a very short space of time; however, if you do the workout as it is designed you will be very tired at the end of it. Holding an anaerobic state for as long as possible is the main goal of High-Intensity Interval Training.

Since there are rest intervals in High-Intensity Interval Training, you can sprint harder for a longer time. For example, if you were sprinting 100 meters, you would go all out and very fast for about 15 seconds. In the advanced High-Intensity Interval Training workout, you might spend seven or eight minutes going full-on for a 15-minute routine. Four to six total workout minutes are perfect for a novice.

High-Intensity Interval Training allows for a range of different activities. Using the largest muscle groups in your body safely is important when choosing an activity. The energy source found inside the muscle is tapped by the High-Intensity Interval Training. Your benefits increase with an increase in the size of the exercised muscle group.

Sprinting is the ideal choice for High-Intensity Interval Training. Pick another activity if you have injuries or problems which may prevent you from sprinting. One excellent option is using a stationary spinning bicycle.

High-Intensity Interval Training routines are not designed to be done on consecutive days. The goal of a workout is to operate at quite a high intensity. In order to maintain this level of exertion, put as much effort as possible into your reps. This is when High-Intensity Interval Training is at its most productive. After working out, give your muscles time to regain energy. You have a much greater chance of injuring yourself if this doesn't happen, and you will not be able to workout with as much intensity as before. The more rested you are, the more intensity you can put into your workout, getting the benefits in your body during your rest period.

It was believed that doing High-Intensity Interval Training on an empty stomach was the optimal method for maximum fat loss. However, new studies have shown that this is not the case. Before you exercise, make sure you eat something balanced and easily digestible; also ensure that your meal is not too heavy before you exercise.

One of the goals of High-Intensity Interval Training is for continuous improvement, never to hit a wall, or plateau. High-Intensity Interval Training capitalizes on your body's natural ability to continuously adapt to increasing levels of demand; because of this innate ability, your body inevitably will adapt to whatever you demand of it. Your goal results will not be as quick if this occurs. Avoid this by keeping your body guessing. After eight weeks on one High-Intensity Interval Training programFree Web Content, take a week off and start a different routine. There are many options available.

Should You Do Cardio Before Or After Your Weight Training Workout?

Should you do cardio before or after your weight workout? Many prefer to do their cardio before weight lifting to get it out of the way and as a general warm-up. Is this the best way to maximize results?

Should you do cardio before or after your weight workout? Many prefer to do their cardio before lifting to get it out of the way and as a general warm-up. I do endorse a 5-minute pre-workout general warm-up for safety' sake, but for maximum fat loss, post-weight training aerobics should be the mainstay of your program.

The funny thing about being on the cutting edge of weight-loss science is that people are reluctant to believe you until someone with an M.D. says it is so. Well, the wonder of all wonders, it just so happens that a recent study suggests that the best time to do cardio is after a weight workout and that how long you rest between the two can make a difference in both hormone release and fat burning.

This is not new information to bodybuilders who specialize in rapid fat loss year in and year out. My experience as a competitive bodybuilder is what prompted me to use this style of training for fat loss in my clients.

The study was presented at the 2006 ACSM meeting and featured 10 healthy men who did three types of exercise routines on different days:
1) Endurance exercises only
2) Endurance exercise after weight training and a 20 minute rest
3) Endurance exercises after weight training and 120 minutes rest

The weight training workout consisted of six exercises each done for three to four sets of 10 reps. Pretty standard fair and similar to the second phase of the Fat to Fit Program. The cardio exercises consisted of stationary cycling for an hour at low intensity (50 per cent of maximum heart rate.
For maximum fat loss I would suggest a higher intensity level and a more High-Intensity Interval Training style as opposed to the low-intensity approach used in the study.

Doing the weight workout before aerobics led to marked increases in lactate, norepinephrine and growth hormone levels. These are all great things when it comes to maximum fat loss. Before the endurance exercise started those in the 120-minute rest group showed the highest levels of free fatty acids in the blood, while those in the 20-minute rest group showed higher levels of norepinephrine and growth hormone.

During the endurance and weight training exercises, blood levels of free fatty acids and glycerol were higher in both weight training groups than in the endurance the only group. The bottom line is that those in both weight training groups were burning more fat during the aerobic exercise than the aerobics only group.

You can compound the case for post-workout aerobics further by adding in the fact that not only did the group that did weight training first burn more fat during their cardio but also burned more calories in total by virtue of an increased overall daily metabolism increase and calories expended through the actual resistance training itself.

The study clearly shows that doing a weight workout before aerobics leads to hormonal changes that increased fat oxidation (read weight loss or fat burning) during the following aerobic workout.
Here is another angle to the story. Imagine yourself doing 30 minutes to an hour of aerobics and then going on to do your weight training. How much energy do you really have left to do justice to your weight training? After all that cardio, you have burnt through your glycogen stores (which are the muscle preferred source of fuel) and will not have the energy to stimulate the most outrageous fat burning method available to you. An all day long, increased metabolismFree Reprint Articles, because you stimulated your muscles.
It kind of makes you smile when you find out information like this doesn't it?
